The family is heartbroken to share the sudden news of losing a mom, grandma, partner, friend and warrior on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 due to complications from cancer surgery. Darlene was surrounded by love and family as her body let her down, and her spirit remains strongly embedded in those she so cherished: her sister Ruth Sawyer; her partner Eduard Consenheim; her daughters and their partners Marie Lerant, Karen Simpson (Jeff), Alison Simpson (David); and her grandchildren Josh, Kiera, Connor and Riley. Darlene's warmth, contagious giggles and ability to make everyone she met feel welcomed and treasured will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her. A woman of great integrity, Darlene was a rare combination of tremendous strength wrapped in love and empathy. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life at the Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge, Ontario at 11:30 a.m., Thursday October 11, 2018. Rev. Ron Hientz officiating and her daughters and family members will share their stories and loving tributes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Lounsbury Funeral Home, Cambridge (519-658-9366).
